Description

Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland is a brilliant area to live and work. With traditional market towns, a buzzing city and miles of rolling countryside, it has the best of all worlds; scenic countryside, excellent transport links, highly rated schools and universities. Add to this, a vibrant, diverse cultural scene, and the fact it is home to successful sports teams like Leicester City FC, Leicester Tigers rugby, and the County Cricket Club, and it all adds up to create a great place to call home.

Covering two of the most beautiful counties in England, as well as the vibrant city of Leicester, Leicestershire Police serves an area of 2,500 square miles and a population of over 1.1 million. Our shared vision is to see local communities, police, partners and the public working together to make Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland safer. This is through a clear focus on crime prevention, bringing offenders to justice, and supporting victims and witnesses. Much of our work is rated good by our Inspectorate, but we cannot be complacent, and there are areas in which we know we can improve.

To help us progress, we are seeking an inspirational and innovative leader, who can build on the successes of our retiring Chief Constable. Already an innovative Force, you will bring a fresh perspective and innovative thought to support us through our next phase of development. Given the diversity of our communities, you will also be adept at establishing working partnerships that are built on mutual trust and confidence. Our people are proud to work for Leicestershire Police, and they need a Chief Constable who is aspirational and motivational, and genuinely interested in them, to build a force for the future.

We are looking for someone that can bring significant operational credibility, alongside strategic organisational leadership. A reflective and collaborative leader with the humility to learn from those around them, taking the best ideas from subject experts to ensure we are developing the very best service we can. With a proven record of building strong partnerships across a politically complex area, and exposure to policing in a mix of urban and rural communities will also be important. As with all good leaders at this level, strong financial acumen, with the ability to think strategically, will also be critical.

Join us, and together, we can show what a truly modern police force can really achieve.
