A message from the Police and Crime Commissioner Rupert Matthews
Opportunities like this don’t come along every day, so grab this one with both hands.
Leicestershire Police is a cracking force which is lucky to cover two of the most beautiful counties in England as well as the vibrant city of Leicester itself. That makes for a great place to live, but also offers a varied and dynamic policing environment. Our farming communities face rural crime as challenging as any in the most remote areas, while the city centre has challenges more like those of the urban centres of London, Liverpool or Manchester.
And policing is changing faster than ever before. The impact of Artificial Intelligence is only just beginning to be felt. Crime prevention is increasingly important. Lack of prison space and court backlogs mean that we must find new ways to deal with criminals. But however fast and far policing changes, we must take the public with us. The very notion of policing with consent will fall if public trust and confidence is not consolidated and increased.
Becoming the next Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police will be your chance to show what you can achieve. No matter how good a force might be – and Leicestershire Police is very good – the future brings challenges and opportunities.
That is why I want to hear from you, learn your ideas for the future and have you apply for this job.
Together we can show what a truly modern police force can really achieve.
