Who Are We Looking For?
Leicestershire Police is an innovative force. We need an inspirational and innovative leader, who can bring fresh ideas and support the force in its next phase of development.
Leicestershire Police serves an area covering 2,500 square miles with a population of over 1.1 million. It covers a wide geographical area ranging from the diverse communities of Leicester City to the surrounding market towns and rural communities of Leicestershire and Rutland.
Given the diversity of our communities, our new Chief Constable needs to be someone who is adept at establishing working partnerships and relationships that are built on trust and confidence and drive our efforts to reduce harm and risk.
For our people we require an aspirational and motivational leader. Our officers and staff are proud to work for Leicestershire Police and we need a Chief Constable who is genuinely interested in them and is going to work hard on their behalf to build a force for the future.
We are looking for someone that can bring significant operational credibility alongside strategic organisational leadership. A reflective and collaborative leader with the humility to learn from those around them, taking the best ideas from subject experts to ensure we are developing the best service we can.
To meet the needs of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland we are looking for someone who has:
- A proven record of liaising and building relationships, with diverse communities.
- The ability to build strong partnerships across a politically complex area for the benefit of the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
- Experience of managing the policing challenges that a mix of urban and rural communities brings.
- The skills to take a large organisation through a key period of change and transformation.
- The ability to motivate a large workforce and attract the best talent into the organisation.
- A high level of financial acumen with the ability to think for the long term.
- Demonstratable experience of managing large scale public order situations, civil contingency and major incidents.
